We are excited to announce that our project COOP has been shortlisted for the IUPA 2020! The International Urban Project Award 2020 — presented by Bauwelt Magazine, Berlin, and WA World Architecture Magazine, Beijing, — aims to engage the debate on the values of architecture in international discourse. A strong urban design that not only withstands challenging times but also empowers is what this award is all about.
Our project COOP — a reconversion of an old mill into a productive and socio-cultural framework — does exactly that: it offers professional training and reinsertion, and improves the quality of life in the neighbourhood. The restoration approach that we have used for the revaluation of the industrial heritage could be seen as a form of ecological recycling and cultural sustainability. Throughout its walls, indoor and outside spaces, as well as the exhibitions, COOP tells the story of the city, while the city, as seen from the panoramic roof terrace, tells the story of COOP.
All award-winning projects and a selection of further entries will be published in the catalogue of BAU Congress China 2020, WA and Bauwelt.
