Oana Bogdan is an ambassador for the European Citizens’ Initiative HouseEurope!, which advocates for new EU legislation to make building renovations and conversions easier, more affordable, and more sustainable. Demolishing existing structures is as outdated as food waste, animal testing, fast fashion, and single-use plastics. The initiative demands the right to reuse existing buildings, based on three core principles: (I) tax reductions for renovation works and reused materials (II) fair rules to assess the risks and potentials of existing buildings, and (III) new values for the embedded CO2 in existing structures. More information about the European Citizens’ Initiative HouseEurope! can be found here.
To support new EU-laws that make renovation the norm and stop the demolition of existing buildings sign here and share with your network. HouseEurope! needs 1 million signatures from across the EU so they can help member states stop demolition and renovate – to house Europe in our existing buildings.
