“In the eyes of BOGDAN & VAN BROECK, a Cité Modèle is inclusive, as every single part of a city should be. Housing, production, urban farming, offices, old buildings, new buildings, tall and low buildings, bicycles, nature, children and different kinds of people.”
This was BOGDAN & VAN BROECK’s answer to the enquiry (A Cité Modèle in your eyes…) posed by a group of students from the futurelab Vienna. The group is participating in a research project about large scale housing in the 50s and 60s in Europe. Their main focus hereby is Renaats Braems La Cité Modèle in Brussels. Through a series of interviews and letters exchanged with different acteurs surrounding the housing topic (scientists, architects, city officials, inhabitants, artists) they try to generate a holistic picture of Belgium’s largest social housing complex and capture many different positions.
Our contribution can be found in their first draft of the CTM project.
